Play That Funky Music - March 2007 |
The QWO's first concert for 2007 was inspired by the infectious rhythms and harmonies of pop music: funk, jazz and rock. The concert blasted off with Joseph Spaniola's Escapade. Electric guitarist Ian Weston performed the Australian premiere of Jim Bonney's Chaos Theory, then the orchestra performed two more works by Michael Torke: Overnight Mail and one of his greatest and most-loved compositions, Adjustable Wrench. Dana Wilson's Shortcut Home, Roger Cichy's Colours and John Mackey's Strange Humors completed the program.
