Speed! - November 2006 PDF Print E-mail

One of the most exciting wind ensemble concerts Brisbane has ever experienced! From the opening notes of Jack Stamp's Gavorkna Fanfare, the large audience was blown away by the screamers (circus marches) of Henry Fillmore and John Heed as well Julius Fucik's ever-popular Thunder and Blazes.

QWO also performed Eric Whitacre's Equus and the amazing Ghost Train Triptych, as well as the Australian premiere of Michael Torke's Grand Central Station. The QWO was also thrilled to present another Australian premiere - the most recent winner of the ABA/Ostwald Award, John Mackey's Redline Tango.

Guest conductor Mr Paul Kucharski directed the ensemble for two of the works on the programme. Speed! was a fantastic finale to a very successful year for QWO in 2006.
