Success at National Band Championships |

News flash - Queensland Wind Orchestra placed second in the Open A Grade Concert Band section of the Australian National Band Championships held over the Easter weekend in Brisbane. QWO was the highest placed of all Queensland bands and this is a fantastic result for the ensemble's first entry in a competition. Congratulations to all the players for their hard work and especially to conductor Craig Dabelstein for the preparation of such a fine programme of music.
Congratulations are also due to solo section winners Jacob Cavanough
(Open Timpani - 1st place), Katey Witham (Open Bassoon - 1st Place),
Amy Walduck (Open Alto Saxophone - 1st place) and competitors Michael
Gray (Open Trumpet), Melissa Hickey (Open Trumpet) and Francis Carroll
(Open Tenor Trombone). Also, in small ensemble sections, the
QWO percussion quartet placed second in the Open Quartet and the QWO
brass quintet won 1st place in the Open Quintet section.
